Mindfulness Meditation Training

Mindfulness Meditation has become very popular in recent years. An ancient practice that has been a foundation in various spiritual traditions, Mindfulness Meditation has been studied by psychologists and other researchers and has been shown to have many benefits for people in all walks of life.  While it is a simple practice, it is far from easy, and we have found that people can best learn how to meditate through a customized approach, tailored to each individual's needs and personal situation. For example, the standard position of sitting cross-legged on a cushion on the floor is not always accessible for people with knee or back problems, and other positions must be explored to provide a comfortable resting place for the body while engaging in the meditation.

In addition, Mindfulness Meditation can have tremendous benefit for people struggling with anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties. As therapists, we are particularly sensitive to the special needs that arise for people trying meditation who may struggle with these kinds of issues. We specialize in combining the practice of mindfulness meditation with therapeutic interventions and with compassion-focused techniques, designed to help people find deep comfort and solace in meditation. Often people report that they feel more nourished and experience deep personal growth through the meditation practices we develop together. Meditation is not a one-size-fits-all kind of experience, and our customized approach often helps people who have not had success through trying to learn how to meditate with smartphone apps, audio CDs or in large, structured classes where everyone is taught the same methods in a standardized way, regardless of their issues or comfort level.
